Our mission

A healthier world for animals, nature, and people

At Doderm, we strive to create a balanced ecosystem. This ensures a healthier world for our animals, nature, and future generations. Our approach is based on the use of circular raw materials.

We focus on natural ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to significantly reduce the need for antibiotics. All our products are manufactured according to human-grade standards and the strictest scientific criteria to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

Dr. Beatrix Förster

"I am convinced of the effectiveness of natural antibodies and fascinated by the regenerative power of animal skin. Through our company, we are committed to creating a healthier world for animals, nature, and people in a sustainable way."

Beatrix Förster, the founder of Doderm, launched the company in 2020. Her deep roots in immunology, dermatology, and allergy research form the foundation of Doderm’s philosophy. After completing her PhD at the Max Planck Institute in Martinsried, she dedicated herself to researching therapeutic antibodies and gained valuable experience at renowned (animal) clinics, including Stanford University, LMU Munich, and Utrecht University. Beatrix Förster, who is not only an experienced scientist but also a passionate pet owner, developed innovative biotechnological methods for producing antibody formats used in both human and veterinary medicine. Her expertise and the associated patents form the basis for Doderm’s product development. Beatrix is an enthusiastic nature lover and enjoys spending her free time with her family and dog in the wild Moselle landscape around Koblenz or in the dunes around Utrecht.

The mission comes to life

Our journey to the perfect product

The impulse

Dr. Beatrix Förster faced a major challenge: before founding Doderm, she worked for a biotech company. There, she conducted research on the development of antibodies for treating cancer in humans.

She was confronted with the serious consequences of antibiotic-resistant infections. At the same time, she realized the enormous potential of antibodies.

The realization

In her further research, Beatrix Förster investigated whether the bacteria found in cows are similar to those found in humans. To her surprise, she discovered that the protective antibodies in cow’s milk could also be beneficial for human skin. This finding led to further studies, this time focusing on dogs, with equally impressive results. Discussions with dermatologists revealed that humans and dogs share many similarities in terms of their microbiome.

The need

In her discussions with numerous veterinarians and dog owners, Dr. Förster quickly realized that there is an urgent need for skin care products that provide long-term results.

The Creation

Inspired by the suggestions and needs of practicing veterinarians, Dr. Förster began developing an antibody treatment that would not only promote healing but also support skin care. The combination of natural plant extracts and proven ingredients for gentle wound care led to the creation of a broad range of skin care products. The result was Doderm, a comprehensive skin care product suitable for horses, dogs, and cats.

An important milestone: Doderm is founded

The origins of Doderm, an innovative company in the field of skin healing, trace back to a decade-long research and development phase. The fundamental idea of harnessing the healing power of cow's milk antibodies captured the imagination of many. Over time, the startup gained the support of knowledgeable private investors who contributed both financial resources and expertise. This support was crucial for the further development and implementation of innovative approaches into practical healing products.

Furthermore, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate also recognized Doderm’s potential and provided funding to the startup. This funding was an important step in developing antibody-based therapeutic products that can reduce the use of antibiotics and cortisone.
This represents a significant advance for both human and animal health, while also contributing to environmental protection.

Doderm thus stands not only for innovative skin healing, but also for a new era of medicine in which sustainability and the responsible use of natural resources play a central role. Thanks to the support of dedicated investors and funding from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Doderm has been able to make an important contribution to human and animal healthcare while also protecting the environment.
