In cows, calves receive the antibodies they need immediately after birth through their mother’s milk. Colostrum is rich in antibodies—a mini-immune system passed from the cow to the calf. We use these antibodies, which remain in the milk after the calf has been sufficiently fed. Using an innovative process, we extract these antibodies from the milk and incorporate them into our Doderm Hydro RepairGel.

Therefore, we always recommend consulting a veterinarian to address the root cause.

How often should I use the Hydro RepairGel?

For best results, apply the skin gel twice a day. If you have a horse, it can sometimes be difficult to visit the stable twice a day. In that case, we recommend applying it at least once a day.

When will the first results be visible?

The first results are visible after 3 to 5 days. After that, it is recommended to continue the treatment until the skin has fully healed (on average 2 to 3 weeks).

Is Doderm Hydro RepairGel antibiotic-free?

Yes, our skin gel is free of antibiotics and corticosteroids, but just as effective! Long-term use of antibiotics can lead to the development of resistance. In short, the antibiotics then work less effectively or not at all. And of course, you want the antibiotics to work effectively for your pet in the event of serious infections. In the interest of people, animals, and the environment, we want to ensure that fewer antibiotics and corticosteroids are used.

What is the difference between the SOS Gel and the regular Hydro Repair Gel?

Apart from the size, there is practically no difference. It is exactly the same skin gel, just in a convenient small size. One small difference from the Doderm Hydro Repair Gel is that the SOS Gel does not contain lavender scent, so you can use the SOS Gel for both your dog and your horse.

Does Bevat Doderm Hydro RepairGel contain cortisone?

No, Doderm Hydro RepairGel does not contain cortisone. For some skin irritations, a cortisone ointment is prescribed, but unfortunately, it combats not only the harmful bacteria but also the good bacteria, disrupting the skin’s microbiome. The antibodies in our Doderm Hydro Repair Gel neutralize only the harmful bacteria, leaving the skin’s microbiome undisturbed and nourished by our gel.

What is the shelf life of Hydro RepairGel after opening?

Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to this question. It depends on how large the area of skin irritation is. If the irritation is limited to a small area, one bottle will last longer than if the irritation covers a large area. The Hydro RepairGel is easy to apply and doesn’t need to be applied thickly, so you can easily get by with using one bottle for a long time. The Hydro RepairGel Horse is now also available in a 100ml version, which is ideal if your horse has skin irritations in multiple places or over a large area.

Will there still be enough milk for the calf if you use it to make the skin gel?

In any case! We only use the colostrum from the third milking. This is a byproduct of dairy farming and is often simply thrown away! We think that’s a shame, because it still contains plenty of antibodies that we can use in the Doderm Hydro RepairGel. This makes the skin gel sustainable, too.
