Doderm Hydro RepairGel is made from several natural ingredients, all of which have their own effect. What they have in common: They help restore the skin's microbiome.
Our ingredients are of high quality and have been proven in science and/or phytotherapy to support your animal's skin. We would be happy to explain the ingredients and their effects to you so that you know exactly what you are applying to your pet's skin!
All our products are manufactured to human quality standards and the strictest scientific criteria to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
Ingredients
A Quick Overview
Main ingredient
Antibodies (IgG) from colostrum
Many staphylococci live all around a cow! That's why a cow protects her calf with many antibodies in her milk. Unlike humans, the young animal does not receive any immune defenses via the mother's placenta during pregnancy. The calf therefore receives its antibodies after birth through milk (especially the first milk): colostrum. The antibodies attach themselves to the toxins and, so to speak, "disarm" the bacteria. This allows the skin to regain its resistance. The "good" bacteria return and are nourished by our skin gel, while the "bad" ones disappear. The pH levels in the skin are brought back into the right balance for your pet. Doderm uses milk from the third milking. It is surplus in agriculture and is usually thrown away. Gently cleaned and filtered, the concentration of pure (active) antibodies remains. They are diverse and "intelligent" – they only act against bacteria where they are needed.
Plant Extracts
Witch hazel (Hamamelis)
Doderm contains an extract from the leaves of the witch hazel shrub. Witch hazel contains flavonoids, which protect the skin from free radicals and stimulate blood circulation in the skin. These are antioxidants that are also found in various types of fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, and seeds. In addition, witch hazel has unique anti-inflammatory properties that help in the care of irritated and damaged skin.
Heart seed
Balloon Vine (Cardiospermum Halicacabum) is a fast-growing annual plant found in subtropical and tropical regions, including Africa, South America, India, and Australia. In phytotherapy, Cardiospermum Halicacabum is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-itch, and pain-relieving properties.
Common Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
Calendula, or marigold, is known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in skin and mucous membrane infections, but has also proven its healing power in wound healing. Marigold disinfects and soothes the skin and promotes wound healing. This ingredient is one of the important building blocks in Doderm Hydro RepairGel.
Natural fabrics
Honey
Honey is known for its medicinal properties. This is because it is a natural anti-inflammatory. Honey is packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that help repair the skin.
Oats
There's a good reason why we use oats in our Doderm Hydro RepairGel. Oats have been used as a skincare ingredient for years and consist of various substances, all of which have different effects on the skin. Carbohydrates and proteins from oats can bind to the skin and form a protective layer. In addition, the proteins can maintain the skin's pH balance. The fats from oats strengthen the skin and thus reduce moisture loss. The fibers in oats, especially beta-glucan, help the skin attract and retain moisture. This is something that dry or eczematous skin often struggles with on its own. And finally... oats also contain saponins, which cleanse the skin, as well as vitamins and flavonoids (substances that have a soothing effect).
Vitamins
Vitamin A (Retinol)
Retinol is better known as Vitamin A. This vitamin is crucial if you want to achieve healthy skin. You can think of it as oxygen for your skin. It ensures that damage is repaired, your skin is normalized, and visibly improved.
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. It can be produced in the body from beta-carotene, which is therefore also called provitamin A. Vitamin A is important for the formation of blood vessels and thus for the health of all cells. It is an antioxidant that is used as a natural preservative. Vitamin A is necessary for tissue repair and maintenance. It also accelerates the formation of healthy new skin cells.
Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)
Panthenol (also known as provitamin B5) is a substance derived from the B vitamin pantothenic acid. Panthenol strengthens the skin's barrier function because vitamin B5 has moisturizing properties and thus helps prevent moisture loss from the skin due to evaporation.
Vitamin E
In addition to supporting muscles, vitamin E also plays a supportive role in the nervous and immune systems. Tocopherol is a natural form of vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps eliminate free radicals and naturally cleanses the body. Vitamin E strengthens the skin's barrier function, has regenerative properties, and offers protection against skin damage caused by UV radiation.
Building Blocks for the Skin Barrier
Ceramide
Considering that the skin consists of many different skin cells that fit together like bricks, ceramides are the natural cement that holds these skin cells together. This keeps the skin hydrated and keeps bad bacteria out. You can imagine that if your pet suffers from skin irritation, this natural barrier is disturbed. The ceramides added to Doderm Hydro RepairGel support the skin's natural repair and ensure that the skin cells fit together like bricks again.
Cholesterol
Cholesterol may sound a bit strange as an ingredient for a skin care gel. Many people know it as something "bad" that you shouldn't consume too much of. But cholesterol occurs naturally in the skin and, together with ceramides (building blocks) and free fatty acids, forms the fatty layer that protects the skin from drying out. You can imagine that if the skin microbiome is disturbed by an allergic reaction or a wound, this layer is broken. The cholesterol and ceramides in Doderm Hydro RepairGel work together to prevent the skin from drying out and restore its natural resilience.
Lecithin
Lecithin is a special substance because it can bind fat and water, forming a single unit. It is also known as an emulsifier and ensures that Doderm obtains a beautiful, smooth gel structure that is easy to apply.
In addition to this practical function, it also has nourishing properties. Since lecithin can bind fat to water, it forms a non-occlusive layer that still allows the skin to breathe and additionally stores water in this layer. As a result, the skin does not dry out, remaining beautifully supple and hydrated.
Nutrition for the Microbiome
Glycerine
Doderm Hydro RepairGel contains glycerin, a moisturizing ingredient. It is easily absorbed by the skin and helps the skin lose less moisture. Therefore, in addition to its moisturizing effect, glycerin also has a positive influence on skin elasticity and supports the skin barrier.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body and has a strong moisturizing effect. A single gram of hyaluronic acid can bind up to six liters of fluid. That's quite impressive! Irritated skin is often dehydrated and can recover better when well-hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is ideal for this. Furthermore, recent studies show that it may not only have moisturizing properties, but also antioxidant properties. This finding is very important as it suggests that it can act as a protective shield against free radicals from the environment.
