How it works

The natural power of Doderm

The Microbiome as the Key to Success

Doderm simply explained

On this page we explain the world of microorganisms to you in the simplest way possible, focusing on the essentials. Numerous microscopic organisms such as bacteria, viruses and yeast live in and on our bodies - this is completely natural. The community of these tiny life forms is called the microbiome. Animals also have such a biome.

If you know how, it is very useful for your health.

The role of staphylococci

Normally harmless, staphylococci can cause infections when the skin barrier is weakened, for example by UV radiation or scratching. This leads to dysbiosis - an incorrect composition of the microbiome - and increases the risk of infection.

Cow's milk as an immune system booster

Cows protect their calves with antibodies in cow's milk, as they do not receive any defenses in the womb. The first milk, the so-called colostrum, is particularly rich in these antibodies. They bind to the toxins of the bacteria and neutralize them.

As extremely effective and defensive helpers, they strengthen the skin against infections and support the return of good bacteria.

The Goodness of Cow's Milk

Doderm uses the milk from the third milking, which is often surplus in agriculture. Through gentle cleaning and filtration we obtain concentrated, active antibodies.

These are particularly effective and work specifically where they are needed.

Our goal

An ecosystem in balance
We strive to create a balanced ecosystem that provides the best living conditions for our animals, the environment and future generations. By using circular raw materials and natural, anti-inflammatory ingredients, we reduce the need for antibiotics.

The Science Behind Doderm Hydro Repair Gel

Our bodies are home to a variety of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses and yeast, collectively known as the microbiome. This microbiome plays a crucial role in the health of our skin and, of course, that of our animal friends.

When the skin microbiome becomes unbalanced, staph bacteria, common skin bacteria, can proliferate and weaken the skin. This weakening leaves the skin vulnerable to bacterial infections, with the toxins produced by staph bacteria causing inflammation.

In cows, the calf receives the necessary antibodies from the mother's milk immediately after birth. The first milk, known as colostrum, is rich in antibodies - a mini immune system that is passed on from the cow to the calf. We use these antibodies that remain in the milk after the calf has been adequately supplied. Using an innovative process, we extract these antibodies from the milk and integrate them into our Doderm Hydro RepairGel.

These antibodies, combined with other essential ingredients, support the skin in the fight against bacteria and care for the natural microbiome. The skin regenerates its resistance, promoting beneficial bacteria and displacing harmful bacteria. Our gel also contains nutrients for the good bacteria and helps to restore the pH value of the skin of dogs and horses to balance. In this way, we make use of the power of nature. And so, combined with many years of scientific expertise, an innovative product was created that is effective and at the same time gentle on your animal and its skin.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Doderm Hydro RepairGel can be used to treat various skin irritations in pets. It is important to know that Doderm can support the skin in the applications listed below, but is by no means a medicine that can prevent the cause of skin irritation. Therefore, we always recommend consulting a veterinarian to address the cause.

For best results, apply the skin gel twice a day. If you have a horse, it can sometimes be difficult to be in the stable twice a day. In this case, we recommend that you apply it at least once a day.

The first results are visible after 3 to 5 days. After that, it is advisable to continue the application until the skin has completely recovered (on average 2 to 3 weeks)

Yes! Our skin gel is free of antibiotics and cortisone, but just as effective! Long-term use of antibiotics can lead to resistance. In short, the antibiotics then become less effective or no longer work at all. And of course you want your pet to respond well to the antibiotics in the case of serious infections. For the benefit of people, animals and the environment, we want to ensure that fewer antibiotics and cortisone are used.

Apart from the size, there is practically no difference. It is exactly the same skin gel, just in a handy small format. A small difference to the Doderm Hydro RepairGel is that the SOS Gel does not contain a lavender scent, so you can use the SOS Gel for both your dog and your horse.

No, Doderm Hydro RepairGel does not contain cortisone. For some skin irritations, a cortisone ointment is prescribed, but unfortunately this not only fights the harmful bacteria, but also the good bacteria, which disrupts the skin microbiome. The antibodies in our Doderm Hydro RepairGel only neutralize the harmful bacteria, the skin microbiome remains undisturbed and is nourished by our gel

The Hydro RepairGel has a shelf life of 6 months after opening.

Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to this question. It depends on how large the area of skin irritation is. If the skin irritation is limited to a small area, one bottle will last longer than if it is irritated over a large area. Hydro RepairGel is easy to spread and does not need to be applied thickly, so you can easily get by with one bottle for a long time. Hydro RepairGel Horse is now also available in a 100 ml version, which is great if your horse has skin irritation in several places or one large area.

Absolutely! We only use colostrum from the third milking. This is a byproduct of dairy farming and is often simply thrown away! We think that's a shame, because it still contains enough antibodies that we can use for the Doderm Hydro RepairGel. This way, the skin gel is also sustainable.
