At Doderm, we strive to create a balanced ecosystem. This ensures a healthier world for our animals, nature and future generations. Our approach is based on the use of circular raw materials.

We focus on natural ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to greatly reduce the need for antibiotics. All our products are manufactured according to human quality standards and the strictest scientific criteria to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

Beatrix Förster, the founder of Doderm, launched the company in 2020. Her deep roots in immunology, dermatology and allergy research form the foundation of Doderm's philosophy. After completing her doctorate at the Max Planck Institute in Martinsried, she dedicated herself to researching therapeutic antibodies and gained valuable experience at renowned (animal) clinics, including Stanford University, LMU Munich and the University of Utrecht. Beatrix Förster, who is not only an experienced scientist but also a passionate pet owner, has developed innovative biotechnological processes for the production of antibody formats that are used in both the human and veterinary fields. Her knowledge and the associated patents form the basis for Doderm's product development. Beatrix is an enthusiastic nature lover and enjoys spending her free time with her family and her dog in the wild Moselle landscape around Koblenz or in the dunes around Utrecht.

‘Animals are my great passion. I am enthusiastic about the effectiveness of natural ingredients and Doderm products. And I incorporate this conviction and passion into my work.’

Roel Boersma, the commercial director (CCO) of Doderm, not only brings a great deal of passion for animals to his work. He also has extensive experience in food technology. He has been a keen rider since his youth and has been involved with animals, their nutrition and care, and sustainability for many years. Roel founded his own consultancy agency for the equine industry, worked in the production of high-quality animal feed and contributed to the development of sustainable insect-based ingredients on a larger scale. When he heard about Beatrix Förster's ground-breaking innovation, he was immediately enthusiastic. The immune power of colostrum convinced him and he sees nature as a rich source of active ingredients that just need to be understood. In his role at Doderm, Roel is responsible for marketing and sales and contributes to the positive development of the business with his broad expertise. He also maintains relationships with our investors.

The impulse

Dr Beatrix Förster saw a major challenge: before founding Doderm, she worked for a biotech company. There she researched the development of antibodies for treating cancer in humans.

She was confronted with the serious consequences of antibiotic-resistant infections. At the same time, she became aware of the enormous potential of antibodies.

The realisation

In her further research, Beatrix Förster investigated whether the bacteria in cows are similar to those in humans. To her surprise, she found that the protective antibodies in cow's milk could also be beneficial for human skin. This finding led to further studies, this time focussing on dogs, with equally impressive results. Discussions with dermatologists revealed that humans and dogs have a lot in common in terms of their microbiome.

The need

In her discussions with numerous vets and dog owners, Dr Förster quickly realised that there is an urgent need for skin care products with long-term effectiveness.

The creation

Inspired by the suggestions and needs of practising veterinarians, Dr Förster began developing an antibody treatment that would not only have a healing effect but also support skin care. The combination of natural plant extracts and proven substances for gentle wound care led to the creation of a broad spectrum of skin care. The result was Doderm, a comprehensive skin care product suitable for horses, dogs and cats.

An important milestone: Doderm is founded

The creation of Doderm, an innovative company in the field of skin healing, began with a ten-year research and development phase. The basic idea of utilising the healing power of cow's milk antibodies captivated numerous people. Over time, the start-up company gained the support of well-founded private investors who contributed both financial resources and technical expertise. This support was crucial for the further development and implementation of the innovative approaches into practical healing products.

In addition, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate also recognised Doderm's potential and supported the start-up company. This funding was an important step towards developing antibody healing products that can reduce the use of antibiotics and cortisone, which represents significant progress for both human and animal health, while also helping to protect the environment.

Doderm thus stands not only for innovative skin healing, but also for a new era of medicine in which sustainability and the respectful use of natural resources play a central role. The support of committed investors and funding from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate have enabled Doderm to make an important contribution to the healthcare of humans and animals while also protecting the environment.
