All our products are manufactured according to human quality standards and the strictest scientific criteria to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
Ingredients
A quick overview
Main component
Antibodies (IgG) from colostrum
Many staphylococci live around a cow! This is why a cow protects her calf with many antibodies in the cow's milk. Unlike in humans, the young animal does not receive any defences from the mother's placenta during pregnancy. The calf therefore receives its antibodies after birth via the milk (especially the first milk): the colostrum. The antibodies attach themselves to the toxins and ‘disarm’ the bacteria, so to speak. As a result, the skin regains its resistance. The ‘good’ bacteria return and are nourished by our skin gel, while the ‘bad’ ones disappear. The PH values in the skin are brought back into the right balance for your animal. Doderm uses the milk from the third milking. It is surplus in agriculture and is usually thrown away. Gently purified and filtered, the concentration of pure (active) antibodies remains. They are versatile and ‘intelligent’ - they only act against the bacteria where they are needed.
Plant extracts
Witch hazel (Hamamelis)
Doderm contains an extract from the leaves of the witch hazel bush. Witch hazel contains flavonoids that protect the skin from free radicals and stimulate blood circulation in the skin. These are antioxidants that are also found in various types of fruit, vegetables, herbs, nuts and seeds. In addition, witch hazel has unique anti-inflammatory properties that help care for irritated and damaged skin.
Heart seed (Cardiospermum halicacabum)
Cardiospermum halicacabum is a fast-growing annual plant found in subtropical and tropical regions, including Africa, South America, India and Australia. In phytotherapy, Cardiospermum halicacabum is known for its anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and analgesic properties.
Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
Calendula or marigold is known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in skin and mucous membrane infections, but has also proven its healing power in wound healing. Calendula disinfects and soothes the skin and promotes wound healing. This ingredient is one of the important building blocks in Doderm Hydro RepairGel.
Natural substances
Honey
Honey is known for its medicinal properties. This is because it is a natural anti-inflammatory. Honey is packed with important vitamins, minerals and enzymes that help to repair the skin.
Oats
We use oats in our Doderm Hydro RepairGel for a reason. Oats have been used as a skin care product for years and consist of various substances. They all have different effects on the skin. Carbohydrates and proteins from oats can bind to the skin and form a protective layer. In addition, the proteins can maintain the skin's pH value. The fats in oats strengthen the skin and thus also reduce moisture loss. The fibres in oats, especially beta-glucan, help the skin to attract and retain moisture. This is something that dry or eczematous skin often cannot do well on its own. And finally ... oats also contain saponins, which cleanse the skin, as well as vitamins and flavonoids (substances that have a soothing effect).
Vitamins
Vitamin A (retinol)
Retinol is better known as vitamin A. This vitamin is crucial if you want to achieve healthy skin. You can think of it as oxygen for your skin. It ensures that damage is repaired and your skin is normalised and visibly improved.
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. It can be produced in the body from beta-carotene, which is therefore also known as provitamin A. Vitamin A is important for the formation of blood vessels and therefore for the health of all cells. It is an antioxidant that is used as a natural preservative. Vitamin A is necessary for tissue repair and maintenance. It also accelerates the formation of healthy new skin cells.
Vitamins B5 (panthenol)
Panthenol (also known as provitamin B5) is a substance derived from the B vitamin pantothenic acid. Panthenol strengthens the skin's barrier function, this is because vitamin B5 has moisturising properties and thus helps to prevent moisture loss through evaporation from the skin.
Vitamin E
In addition to supporting the muscles, vitamin E also plays a supporting role in the nervous system and the immune system. Tocopherol is a natural form of vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps eliminate free radicals and naturally cleanses the body. Vitamin E strengthens the skin's barrier function and also has regenerative properties and offers protection against skin damage caused by UV radiation.
Building blocks for the skin barrier
Ceramides
Considering that the skin is made up of many different skin cells that fit together like bricks, ceramides are the natural cement that ensures that these skin cells stay together. This keeps the skin hydrated and bad bacteria at bay. As you can imagine, if your pet suffers from skin irritation, this natural barrier is disrupted. The ceramides added to Doderm Hydro RepairGel support the natural repair of the skin and ensure that the skin cells fit together again like bricks.
Cholesterol
Cholesterol may sound a little strange as an ingredient in a skincare gel. Many people think of it as something ‘bad’ that you shouldn't take too much of. But cholesterol occurs naturally in the skin and, together with ceramides (building blocks) and free fatty acids, forms the oily layer that protects the skin from drying out. One can imagine that if the skin microbiome is disturbed by an allergic reaction or a wound, this layer is broken through. The cholesterol and ceramides in Doderm Hydro RepairGel together ensure that the skin does not dry out and regains its natural resistance.
Lecithin
Lecithin is a special substance because it can bind fat and water, forming a single unit. It is also known as an emulsifier and ensures that Doderm has a nice smooth gel structure that is easy to apply.
In addition to this practical function, it also has moisturising properties. Because lecithin can bind fat to water, it forms a non-sealing layer that allows the skin to continue to breathe and also stores water in this layer. This prevents the skin from drying out and keeps it supple and hydrated.
Nutrition for the microbiome
Glycerine
Doderm Hydro RepairGel contains glycerine. This is a moisturising ingredient. It is easily absorbed by the skin and helps the skin to lose less moisture. Therefore, in addition to its moisturising effect, glycerine also has a positive influence on skin elasticity and supports the skin barrier.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally in the body and has a strong moisturising effect. A single gram of hyaluronic acid can bind up to six litres of fluid. That's pretty impressive! Irritated skin is often dehydrated and can recover better if it is well hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is ideal for this. What's more, recent studies show that it may not only have moisturising properties, but also antioxidant properties. This finding is very important because it suggests that it can act as a kind of protective shield against free radicals from the environment.
