Antibodies (IgG) from colostrum

A cow contains a lot of staphylococci! That is why a cow protects her calf with many antibodies that are in the cow's milk. Unlike humans, the young animal does not receive any antibodies from the mother via the placenta during its pregnancy. Therefore, after birth, the calf receives its antibodies through the milk (especially the first milk): the colostrum.

In particular, antibodies attach to the toxins and take the “weapon” away from the bacteria. As a result, the skin regains resistance. The "good" bacteria return and are nourished by our skin gel, while the "bad" ones disappear. The PH levels in the skin are brought back into the right balance for dog and horse.

Doderm uses the milk from the third milking. It is surplus in agriculture and is usually thrown away. Gently purified, and filtered, the concentration of pure (active) antibodies remains. They are diverse and "intelligent": they only act against the bacteria where they are actually needed.

Plant extracts:

Toverhazelaar (hamamelis virginia)

Witch hazel (Hamamelis Virginia)

Doderm contains an extract from the leaves of the Witch Hazel shrub. Witch hazel contains flavonoids that protect the skin from free radicals and stimulate blood flow to the skin. These are antioxidants that are also commonly found in various fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts and seeds. In addition, witch hazel has unique anti-inflammatory properties that support taking care of irritated and damaged skin.

Blaasjeswingerd_Cardiospermum_halicacabum

Balloon vine (Cardiospermum Halicacabum)

balloon vine is a fast-growing annual plant native to subtropical and tropical regions, including Africa, South America, India and Australia. In phytotherapy, Cardiospermum Halicacabum is known for its anti-inflammatory, itching and analgesic properties.

Calendula_officinalis

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

Calendula is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial action in skin and mucous membrane infections, but it has also proven its healing power for wound healing. 'Marigold' disinfects and soothes the skin and promotes the healing of wounds.

Natural substances

Honey

Honey is known for its medicinal properties. This is because it is a natural anti-inflammatory. This is because honey is packed with essential vitamins, minerals and enzymes, helping to repair the skin!

Oats

Oats have been used as a skin care product for many years and are made up of different substances. All of which have different effects on the skin. Carbohydrates and proteins from oats can bind to your skin and provide a protective layer. In addition, proteins can maintain the skin's pH level. The fats from oats strengthen the skin and thereby also reduce moisture loss. The fibres in oats, especially beta-glucan, help the skin attract and also retain moisture. This is something that dry or eczema skin often cannot do well on its own.And lastly, oats also contain saponins, which cleanse the skin, as well as vitamins and flavonoids (substances that have a calming effect).

Vitamins

Vitamin A (Retinol)

Retinol is better known as vitamin A. This vitamin is essential if you like to achieve healthy skin. You can think of it as the oxygen for your skin. This is because it repairs skin damage, soothes your skin and visibly improves it.

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. It can be made in the body from beta-carotene, which is therefore called pro-vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for the formation of capillaries and therefore for the health of all cells. It is an antioxidant used as a natural preservative. It is also necessary for tissue repair and preservation and accelerates the formation of healthy new skin cells.

Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)

Panthenol (also known as provitamin B5) is a substance derived from the B vitamin pantothenic acid. Panthenol strengthens the skin's barrier function, this is because Vitamin B5 has moisturizing abilities and helps prevent moisture loss through evaporation from the skin.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

In addition to supporting muscles, vitamin E also has a supporting role in the nervous and immune system. Tocopherol is a natural form of vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps eliminate free radicals, thus naturally purifying the body. Vitamin E strengthens the barrier function of the skin and in addition, it has restorative properties and provides protection against skin damage caused by UV radiation.

Building blocks for the skin barrier:

Ceramide

If you take in consideration that the skin is made up of lots of different skin cells that fit together like bricks, Ceramide is actually the natural cement that keeps these skin cells together. This keeps the skin hydrated and keeps bad bacteria out. You can imagine that if your pet suffers from skin irritations, this natural barrier is broken. The Ceramide added to Doderm Hydro RepairGel assists in the natural repair of the skin and ensures that the skin cells fit together again like bricks!

Cholesterol

Cholesterol may sound a bit strange as an ingredient for a skin care gel. Many people know it as something "bad" and something you especially shouldn't ingest too much of. But cholesterol also occurs naturally in the skin and, together with ceramides (building blocks) and free fatty acids, forms the fatty layer that protects the epidermis from drying out. You can imagine that when the microbiome of the skin is disrupted by an allergic reaction or wound, this layer is broken. Together, the cholesterol and ceramides in Doderm Hydro RepairGel ensure that the skin does not dry out and regains its natural resistance.

Hydrogenated lecithin

Lecithin is special substance, in fact, it can bind fat and water together making it a whole. It is also called an emulsifier and makes Doderm a nice smooth gel that spreads easily. But in addition to this practical function, it also has caring properties. Because lecithin can bind fat to water, it forms a non-occlusive layer that allows the skin to still breathe and retains extra water in that layer. As a result, it does not dry out and remains beautifully supple and hydrated.

Nutrition for the microbiome:

Glycerin

Doderm Hydro RepairGel contains Glycerin. This is a moisturizing ingredient. It is easily absorbed by the skin and causes the skin to lose less moisture. Therefore, in addition to a moisturizing effect, Glycerin also has a positive effect on skin elasticity and supporting the skin barrier.

Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate)

Hyaluronic acid is a substance native to the body and has a strong moisturizing ability. A single gram of hyaluronic acid can hold up to six liters of fluid. That's pretty impressive! Irritated skin is often dehydrated and can recover better when properly hydrated. So hyaluronic acid is ideal for this purpose. In addition, recent studies reveal that hyaluronic acid may not only have moisturizing properties, but also exhibit antioxidant properties. This finding is of great interest as it suggests that hyaluronic acid may act as a kind of protective shield against free radicals from the environment.
